A Pivotal Moment for Donors:
An Analysis of the Violence Against Children Sector and Recommendations for a Way Forward
Prepared by Swatee Deepak, Ghazal Keshavarzian and Muna Wehbe, Closer Than You Think
The following work gives an overview of the history and critiques of the violence against children (VAC) field, a snapshot in time of the current funding situation for VAC and presents key observations and recommendations for funding in this space.
This analysis is part of a larger piece commissioned by a large global private funder. Considering the shifting funding landscape and the uncertainties facing the VAC sector, the Funder thought it was important to share this analysis publicly.

Funder mapping - This funder mapping intended to identify and profile key organisations and funding streams, including those working on child protection, violence against children (VAC), and education. The process utilised publicly available data, data from existing sector research and mappings shared by partners, and the consultant team’s sector-specific expertise, with iterative refinements to produce a broad-based dataset for strategic planning.
