Beatriz Nuñez

Bea is originally from Northern Mexico but has been living in Oaxaca for more than 15 years. She has significant experience collaborating with Non-Governmental, Non-Profit and International Organizations with a solid track record of overseeing multiple grants and optimizing operations across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.

For the last 7 years, she was Chief of Finance in FRIDA The Young Feminist Fund managing a $10M budget and ensuring robust financial systems in line with compliance and auditing standards. Before joining FRIDA, she collaborated with diverse nonprofit organizations focused on  land defense, grassroots development and indigenous women’s rights supporting the improvement of their internal controls, processes, and functionality to comply with regulations and standards.

Bea continues to work as a consultant with women’s funds and other organizations working with rural and indigenous communities, gender justice and community-driven approaches for social change.

She recently joined the Meso-American Initiative of Women Human Rights Defenders (IM-Defensoras) an organization that seeks to strengthen and link women human rights defenders involved in different social movements to strengthen protection and solidarity networks and increase visibility, recognition, and impact of their human rights work.
